Let’s Kick Off Giving Tuesday 2022 Together!

November 29th is Giving Tuesday and we have much to be thankful for. We continue to listen to the community on our journey to improve as an organization for today and into the future.

In June 2022, we hosted a successful #BeyondSleepy Conference for people with idiopathic hypersomnia and related sleep disorders, and their supporters. Held in Charlotte, North Carolina, over 580 people attended this three-day event which offered in-person and virtual presentations and workshops. In June 2023, we will be hosting our #BeyondSleepy conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This past year we hosted numerous virtual workshops connecting those with IH and related disorders to each other so they’ll know they are not alone, provided updates on clinical trials and treatments highlighting progress on making diagnosis easier, increased the free resources and materials on our website, and doubled-down on our commitment to ensure everyone with IH and related sleep disorders has equitable and fair access to the resources they need.

We were fortunate to partner with the AASM Foundation to provide funding to the Strategic Research Grant program, in support of novel hypersomnolence research. Margaret Blattner, MD, PhD, was the recipient of the 2022 Strategic Research Grant for her research aimed to help address the need to identify an accurate and reliable diagnostic tool for IH.

We are making progress on our vision to fulfill the dream of restorative nighttime sleep and wide-awake days.

We give a HEARTFELT THANKS to the Rye Family for helping kick off our 2022 annual fundraising campaign with a generous offer of matching up to $10,000 in donations. Thank you, Dr. David and Catherine Rye and Dr. Rye’s parents, Tony and Bertha, for your continued support of the Hypersomnia Foundation and the rare sleep disorder community!

We hope you will consider making a donation to the Hypersomnia Foundation this Giving Tuesday and help support our efforts to enhance our programming and improve the lives of people in our community. We cannot do it alone and rely on your generous donations in support of our mission. Thank you for joining us as a champion for those with IH and related sleep disorders!
