Education Guidebook C:
Online Learning

This guidebook is one of three education guidebooks that introduce students to different ways of learning based on how courses are taught: instructed learning, experiential learning, and online learning. Students who have IH can use these resources to determine “good fits” between their options for learning and their IH symptoms. This guidebook is intended to provide general information about online education, focusing specifically on five areas (5) areas to think about when screening for quality online learning: the schools/programs; transfer of credits; courses and academic programs; terminology; and offices and support services. This guidebook is intended to be used as a reference guide, so an INDEX is provided to guide students and supporters to each of these areas of discussion.

There are three (3) built-in resources in this guidebook:

Student TIPS!

These which identify a few online sites that reflect the variety of campus resources that provide guidance to online learners.

The VOICES of IH

These provide commentary by college students of all ages about their experiences with online education.

A PEEK Behind the Instructor’s Door

These identify sites for resources that guide faculty in their online teaching; students can expect their classes to include the principles and best practices identified in these sites.
